Eun Dana/My Life Until Today/Mon 9am

My life until today has been happy but small. I am from a city called Gwangju and I lived there until 6th grade, when I went to the United States with my family. I played clarinet in school band and joined track and field club later. I was active and outgoing. I graduated middle school there and came back to Gwangju. But my high school was at Naju, a small town about an hour and a half away. My high school was a boarding school so I had a great opportunity to learn something more than academic stuff. I learned how to cooperate with peers, how to solve problems on my own, how to clean bathrooms, and etc. Also, I met so many wonderful people at high school. Friends for a lifetime, and teachers who taught me great lessons about life. Until then, I thought I knew much more than any ordinary Korean girls knew but I was wrong. When I entered university, I realized what I had seen was just a small part of the life. So I made myself a promise to explore more and challenge myself at new things at university. Last year was not enough to make my view broader so I want to keep challenging myself and look for what I am missing.

  1. Hello I'm Yun you jung! I read your writing with interest. I'm happy to know more about you thanks to this writing. Your topic in this writing seems that your life until now has been happy and you want to experience many new things. And the line that I'm impressed most is "I made myself a promise to explore more and challenge myself at new things at university." because in this sentence I can feel your passion and decision. But I think it will be better text if you add some details about the things you want to challenge at. :)

  2. Hello, I am Lee Myungjae. I am pleased to read your writing. When I looked through it, I liked you talked about your experience in boarding school. I am not sure, but I guess in boarding school, students can have an opportunity to learn various subjects under a little different system from other ordinary schools. I envy you as I remember my school years as a boring time mixed with endless tests and heavy school work. You seem to me as a lucky person even though you say you just know small parts of human life. Also, I like the line ‘I want to keep challenging myself and look for what I am missing’ because you seem to have some passion for your life. I think that is the most important attitude to make the very life you are dreaming of.  I believe you will get there not in a distant future, unless you lose that spirit :) Those lines that show your hope towards experiencing a bigger world and looking for your future life is the main point of your story. That was quite clear to me, but if you add more specifics about your experiences in the U.S or lessons you gained in schools, your writing would be more informative and interesting to the readers. Also, since there might be few people who grasp ‘a boarding school’ at a glance, giving some tips on that would be preferable. Glad to get to know you. Bye.

I learned how to cooperate with peers, how to solve problems on my own, how to clean bathrooms, and etc. At the beginning of the first grade in high school, I had a trouble with some of the peers in my class. Some rumors about me that I did not know was spreading. After finding out about this, I tried hard to elucidate the rumors and showed what kind of person I truly am. As time passed, my peers started to realize the wrong impression that they had on me. Through this, I learned how hurting the rumors can be to the person concerned and that truth always reveals itself. So I do not like gossiping and talking about others. Moreover, I met so many wonderful people while going through the trouble : friends for a lifetime, and teachers who taught me great lessons about life.
