Kim Ji Su/ how to make a cheese cake

How bake a cheese cake.

Baking is very easy. It is unfortunate that most people consider baking is hard.

However it's really simple. Today I want to show you how to make a lovely delicious cheese cake, without an oven!

First, you need

A bag of cookies,

Plain yogurt,

Cream cheese,

Sugar,

And three eggs.

Second, smash some cookies in a bowl till there are no chunks left. This will become the very base of your cheese cake.

Put an egg into the smashed cookies and stir it. Don't do this with your bare hands, or you will feel the stickiness all thorough your body. So make sure you ware vinyl gloves.

Place the cookie though at the bottom of the rice pot.

Third, mix yogurt and cream cheese together. Put 3 spoons of sugar. Then mix it hard till the mixture becomes thick.

Then pour it all in the rice pot.

After putting all the materials in the rice pot, strike the pot several times in order to settle down the mixtures all together.

Finally, you can just press the button 'cooking'. Then the baking will be done by itself.

Wait for about 30 minutes.

Now you have a delicious homemade cheese cake.

Baking is easy!!

Jae-Hun Lee/ A president you would vote for/ Mon9AM

Choose the correct president for our bright future!

In this December 19th, there will be the 18th presidential election. For South Korea's future and our lives, we must elect a good president. We should choose carefully and reasonably, because the president not only represents the nation but also make many important decisions about security, diplomacy, economy, and social-problems. If we have a wrong choice, then our life is hard and tough than ever. For example, President Lee Myung-bak don't accept the will of the people, he push ahead Four Rivers Project and ROK-US FTA, As opposed to public relations, in fact, he has poor qualifications to handle global economy crisis and to care national welfare. Also, he has failed in foreign policy about the resource diplomacy. These days, he also has a trouble with corruption implicating people close to the president and his family members such as Lee Sang-deuk(President's older brother), Choi See-joong(Former chairman of the Korea Communications Commission) , Sin Jae-min(Former minister of culture, sports and tourism). In order to not repeat these terrible situations, the right choice is important. I think there are two important factors to make our choice better: qualification and personality. First, to be a good president, they must have enough qualification. The president must present a vision about future to the people. And also the president needs a soft leadership to accept the all people's opinion. Second, the president must be an honest and upright person. The president should not accept any bribes or solicit special favor. Think carefully and reasonably, and then choose the correct president for our bright future and our happy life!

The Worst Waiter

In this high-speed world, it is true that there exist many people who have hard time waiting. However, I am sure that no one would be more impatient than him – my puppy, Popi. When I was in the elementary school, I had a 1 year old Dalmatian puppy in my house. He was very playful, sweet, and smart. But there was one thing he could not do very well – waiting. Popi was really smart and he learned fast to "sit", "paw", and even the "chu". The only thing he could not do was waiting in front of the cookies. The entire family tried to teach him but he never succeeded. There is another episode with Popi being such an impatient puppy. Every day he waited every members of the family to come back to home. Even though he could not know the exact time, his sense of time was pretty good that he would wander around the house when it was almost the time for my dad to come back home. And when he hears the sound of the elevator of the apartment he would whine impatiently sitting right next to the front door. When dad finally came home, he would greet this little hot temper puppy with some dog gums or "KalBee" bones brought from the restaurants. My puppy was really the worst, but the sweetest waiter in the world!

My aunt Sarah

I have an aunt who is as young as I am. Her name is Sarah, and she is half American. She is the person who I like best to spent time with, because she is the funniest person I have ever known. She tells a lot of jokes that sound silly but reasonable. For example, once, we drank together at a bar until we got drunk. We didn't even remember how we had come home from the bar. When we got up in the next morning, she said that she had "browned out" last night. I asked what the expression meant and she answered that she created the expression as a weaker version of "to black out". According to her, if she browned out, she was so drunk that she doesn't remember how the party was over last night, but, still, she remembers some parts of the party. I couldn't stop laughing after listening to the joke. Her intelligence is also a reason why I like to be with her. For example, she can be a good docent for me when we went to museums or galleries. She knows a lot of interesting things, especially, that are related to art and literature. She can find out who the painter is, after take a short glance on the painting and she quotes various  rhetorics of  famous authors. Last but not least, I like my aunt because she is a good listener. For example, I feel eased after a talk with Sarah whenever I get stressed out. She waits until I finish my talk and tries to give me helful advice. To sum up, my favorite aunt Sarah is a great comedian, a great teacher and a great counselor for me.

Jae Hyun Park/An example paragraph about a good phyisican/ 9am

Topic: an example paragraph about a good physician

Noted doctor

There is an old saying in Korea; a real doctor cures not only the illness but also the heart of human. There was an old man who passed away in 1995. His name is Jang Gi Ryeo. His life was full of ups and downs considering his life spanned from 1911 to 1995 which includes the fiercest part of modern Korean history, the colonial era and Korean civil war. He was born in northern part of Korean peninsula, now a territory of North Korea and happened to leave his family there after the war only fleeing to south with one of his son. He graduated medical college in Seoul in 1928. During that time he was one of ten Korean men who had medical degree from all over Korean peninsula. It is clear that he could have comfortable life but, he decided to sacrifice his life for poor people as he pledged before entering into medical school. During Korean civil war in Pusan city, he treated about one hundred poor patients per day in tent not wearing gown but running shirt. These people would never see doctor's face in their lives because there were too poor. After the war he kept his good deed. There is a well known story. Many times he told patients who already recovered but did not have money to pay to run away at the midnight from hospital not paying. He dreamed of the world where every people can get a treatment for free. In order to achieve this, he established medical insurance in 1979 which is 10 years before government started general medical insurance.  More than two hundred thousand people benefited from it. He kept treating poor patient even half of his body was paralyzed because of cerebral infarction. He said that when doctor treat patients with affection the doctor can work as a needed person until the end of his/her day. Although his fame was high he stayed small rooftop house at the hospital not even owning a house in his 60 year career as a doctor. He left nothing under his name at the end. I see many high school students or other people who studies really hard to enter a medical college to make a lot of money after graduation. I'm not sure whether they can be a great doctor.

Grand "Mother"

I called my grandmother "mom" until the age of 7. I really thought she was my mother because she raised me until then. My mom went abroad when I was roughly 2 years old and my grandmother took care of me instead. We are so close I dare say I'm her favorite. Of course she loves all of her grandchildren but things are quite special with me. She only has 4 sons but no girls. Living her entire life with five men in her house made her grow cravings for a girl. And there I am, the first girl born of her grandchildren. She raised me for 7 years and we still live together, this makes us feel so attached to each other. Also she made basis of who I am today. When I was young she always told me how to behave, I grew up watching her. It's nothing to be surprised to see me resemble her personality so much. Such things like being bold, caring, and looking up for the greater goals might be the examples. I love her so much and I think she's the most important, and my favorite family member.

THE WORST WAITER/ SON NA RAE/ MON 9-11

What happened to me about the worst waiter was only a few days ago. I and a friend of mine went to a famous Chinese restaurant. The place is much known for mayonnaise shrimp, sweet and sour pork which called in Tang-Su-Yuk in Korean, and jjamppong, Chinese-style noodles with vegetables and seafood. The feature of this restaurant is that the owner of this place is not the Korean, but the Chinese. So many people visit there when it is the lunch time that it is natural for them to get a waiting number ticket and lineup. Unlike usual Korean Waiters, they do give a half-hearted greeting to their guests. And they take an order lacking in patience, serve the dishes as if they almost throw them. Even when we ask them to bring more side dishes or water, they either forget or ignore our request. In spite of every unkindness, the key the restaurant would not go broke is the taste of the dishes. At least to me, it is number-one Chinese food in Korea. This day, too, we had delicious foods, suppressing our anger. After we filled up our stomachs, we considered on what we usually do whenever we got out of this place. To eat delicious foods? Or to receive nice service, that is the question.

Sora Kim/My favorite relative/Mon 9~11

We grow up together.

My mom has 4 sisters. But she was closed to the youngest sister. When I was young, our family and the youngest aunt lived together. She was young, sweet and nice so I really liked her. After she married, she left our family and made her own family. One year later, she gave birth to her first daughter. But my aunt and uncle were worked, so they can't take care of her daughter during the daytime. At that time, my mom didn't work. So they leaved their daughter in my family. I was very interested in caring baby. I always watched my mom and learned how to feed baby, how to change diapers. I helped her to walk, to talk. And I always tried to hug her. One day, my younger brother hit by a car. It was unexpected accident. My mom rushed to hospital with my brother, so I have to stay at home and took care of my cousin. She was sleeping, but suddenly she woke up, and started to cry. I was panic but soon I followed my mom when baby cry. I made a meal for baby and feed to baby. But she didn't stop crying. So I checked the diaper and changed it. Then she stopped crying. When my mom back, she was surprised what I did. Just like that my cousin grows up, and I grow up. Now she's 14 years old, and I'm 21 years old. Sometimes I think she is still a baby.

Cho yoon jung / A president I would vote for / Mon 9-11

2012 is the year when presidential election is included. Many candidates are coming out and many of them are shouting out their presidential election pledges. Then, among the many people, which choice do I have to make?

When voting for president, the most important thing I would consider is his(her) morality and the practicability of their pledges. First, when looking the morality, some people like to say becoming a competent leader is not related to their morality. However, the president is the position where should be worked for the public interest. I doubt if the person who doesn't have the right sense of morality can decide the public interest correctly. I think the person who control himself and behaved in a right way can lead the country in a trustful way.

Second, the practicability of their pledge. No matter how grand plan there is, we should consider the president's term in office is only 5 years. Rather than grand and bluffing plans, we should consider their pledges and check if the pledge can be realized and if it is really helpful for our lives. Voting a president is a significant selection for our lives that affects in a direct way. So Morality and the practicability of their pledge are the two things that I would vote for the president.

Kim you jin // A worst waiter

A worst waiter

My friend thinks that a worst waiter is someone who is indifferent to customers. She told me a story that she had experienced in restaurant. She went to a restaurant to eat dinner with her family. After choosing what she wanted to eat, she called a waiter who seemed to be preoccupied with his work. She told that his face had been stern, he had not been smile. She told that it had been difficult to order. Also, when the waiter gave food she had ordered, he continuously maintained that face, she said. Not trying have a conversation with customers, he only did his work. he just set up the food and went right away. she added that even when they checked the pay, he didn't say anything. She thought that he had seemed to be indifferent to his customers. Of course, Taste, sanity, quality of food are also important for customers. However, we feel not only the taste of food but also air of the restaurant. And the attitude of a waiter determines most of the air. We want to smile even when eating. It can be a key source which makes us enjoy the food. In these reasons, a worst waiter who has apathy to others is the worst. Apathy cannot be a good seasoning. A waiter must be able to pour one's concerns, interest to customers.

Kahee Lee/ My favorite relative/ Mon 9a.m.

If I have to choose just one who I like the most from the many relatives I have, I would choose my aunt, my mother's older sister. My mother has six siblings, two sisters and four brothers. The aunt that I mentioned is the oldest. I like her the most because she adores me more than any other relatives. She always said that she would love to have a daughter of her own, and treated me like one because she had only two sons. When I visited my aunt when I was little, she used to insist that she would braid my hair instead of my mom. Another reason for why I like her most is because of her cool personality. My aunt is a lot older than my mother and is in her late 50's. However she still likes to dress up and is very outgoing. She looks and acts very tough, but I know she cares for others a lot and that she loves animals. I like spending time with my aunt; it's always fun and exciting. She even has the same hobby as me, which is finding nice restaurants, and eating out. She was the one who was delighted the most when my family moved to Seoul 7 years ago. She lives near our home, in the apartment complex 5 minutes away from our place. She calls us every week or so to invite my family for a meal. I haven't visited her lately due to my exams. So I am thinking of giving her a visit this weekend, with a hot pizza in my hand, for a pleasant family dinner.

Youn Hee KIM/The worst waiter/Mon 9-11

It was when I went in a Korean restaurant that I met the worst waitress. I and my friends went there to eat bean paste stew and soft tofu stew. We had a delightful time before entering this restaurant. And when we got in, a waiter welcomed us and led us to a table. We sat there, we chose what to eat and waited for him to come and take our orders. But, a middle-aged woman came to get our orders. She was very rude to us. Her way of speaking was rough and she didn't use honorific. We were the customers, anyway! I felt like she thought us as young girls and treated us as if we wouldn't be concerned about her behaviors. And when we asked for more side dishes, she let the plates slip on the table, which made noises. We were very displeased. I think there wouldn't be workers like her, who look down on students or someone younger. Waiters are people employed in the service industry and they have to be friendly to all of the customers. Not only the taste of the food, but also the way they act make consumers agreeable. Even thought the stews were perfect, we decided to never go back to this restaurant again.

My best teacher, aunt Mi-Gyung

Of all the relatives, whom I like the most is my maternal aunt Mi-Gyung. My mother has three siblings, and she is the second oldest followed by my favorite relative Mi-Gyung. Mi-Gyung now lives in An Dong with her husband and two sons, and so we cannot gather together so often. However, I always miss her a lot because she has been the best teacher in my life since I was very young, and especially when I was going through adolescence. For example, I really loved her because she listened to me sincerely. When I was in trouble, I always asked her for advice, and she was invariably willing to help me. Specifically, in twelfth grade of high school, I once had a huge misunderstanding with my best friend. My other classmates were telling me that I should not speak to her until she apologized me. However, aunt Mi-Gyung recommended me that I should mend things up, by taking the initiative of apologizing first. Following her advice, I tried to talk to my best friend who had a trouble with me, and it revealed later that it was a misunderstanding in my part. Without Mi-Gyung's advice, I would never have figured out how to solve problem, which might cost our friendship. Also Mi-Gyung teaches me many valuable lessons in my life, such as understanding and appreciating differences between people. For instance, I had a friend in church, who was from India. She always ate food with her fingers without using any spoon of chopsticks, so students – including me – didn't want to eat with her just because it seemed strange and unsanitary. My aunt Mi-Gyung told me not to keep distance with the Indian girl, though. She told me that it is very important to appreciate differences between people and that would make my relationship go well. She was right, and after I decided to get close to the Indian girl without any prejudice to her behaviors, we became a best friend and even went to the same high school maintaining good rapport. All in all, aunt Mi-Gyung is the best teacher in my life by giving me good advice and teaching valuable lessons in my life.

Ji-young JANG / A president I would vote for / Mon 9 a.m.

Policy and morality, I vote for them!

Since April 23rd, the registration for presidential contenders has been started. Thus, the political section of newspapers is full of articles of presidential contenders these days. What do you consider when you vote for president? There will be many factors. Among them, I consider two factors, candidate's policies and morality. First, I look into their policies and see whether they are clear and realizable. They also have to be concrete. Voters make much importance on policies because they show how the country would be during next several years. And in most cases, those are directly related to people's lives. Secondly, as corruption scandals implicating people close to the president has recently come to light, morality of a candidate became an important factor. Nation's trust on the president is crucial to his administration. If public opinion is inclined to distrust on the administration, the State will not be able to push forward the national project. Then this will lead to a regression of whole country. So we have to vote for someone who seems not to cause any moral issue. As the presidential election decides next five years of the country, people need to vote. And I will vote for the one who has realizable policies and strong moral character.

My Cousin, My Best Friend

My family is big. My father has eight siblings and I have seventeen cousins. Though I am close to everyone, one of them is the closest. He's my aunt's son. Since my father is the sixth son and got married relatively late, most of my cousins are much older than me. The oldest among us becomes 40 next year and the rest of them are in the middle of their thirties. But he is the only one who is at the same age of me. We hang out together every time we meet. For example, since very young, on the big holidays when all the relatives gather, older cousins went out to play leaving us at home. We were too young to get along with them. When they all became adults, we were not even old enough to go to elementary school. So, we hanged out for ourselves making our own memories. Whenever either I or he has a trouble, we support each other even until today. When my aunt had an accident and had to stay at the hospital for a while, I was there with him for several days and nights. Likewise, he rushed to me when I failed to achieve what I hoped to eagarly. There's a famous saying that one's life is worthwhile if he has just two friends indeed. Every time I meet him and talk to him, I'm so pleased that I have already found one of the two.

My cousin

There are many relatives around me, but what I like the most is my cousin. She is 23 years old, and I think she is the best relative in the whole world. First, she is so beautiful. I'm always surprised when I see her face. She really looks like Kim Tae Hee who is one of the most beautiful actresses in Korea. Because of that, every boy likes her and wants to be her boyfriend. I'm very proud about her. Second, she is really smart. She is a student of Seoul National University. Because she is a hardworking girl, she always gets a high grade in her test. Moreover, she gets a scholarship every year. So she doesn't have to pay her tuition. I have great admiration for her as a college student. Third, she is very kind to me. For example, when I worry about something, she listens to me and gives me some good advices. Also, whenever I say hungry, she buys me a delicious food. I'm so thankful to have that kind of cousin. In conclusion, she is my best friend, my best relative and my best role model. I really like her among the whole relatives and want to be a person like her someday.

Eun Dana/The worst waiter/Mon 9-11am

The worst waiteress ever

How would you feel when the waiter of the restaurant you went had a terrible behavior? I once went to a famous fried chicken restaurant and met the worst waiter ever. I was with my friends and we were just hanging out. When we entered the restaurant, there were several other customers. We sat on a table and waited for the server to come. A young-looking girl came to us and said some stereotyped phrases with a blank face. We did not care about her monotone face or voice, but then she kind of threw the menu on the table and went away. My friends and I felt a bit offended by her action but we agreed that it was not a big deal. Then she came back to take our orders and it was then when we felt really offended. She did not use honorifics to us and when we finished our order, she rolled her eyes and went off. We were dumbfounded by her attitude. I always believed that kindness is the first thing for a waiter and wondered how this restaurant got a chance to become successful with this kind of worker. A few minutes later, the girl came with the food we ordered. She slammed the dishes and never said apologized about her action. During the whole time when we were there, she spoke about 3 sentences and never showed one single smile. When we called her to demand some more pickles and drinks, she even ignored us two times. The chicken was really delicious but we felt so terrible that we could not enjoy our meal. It almost made us lose our appetite. After that, we never thought about going to that restaurant again.

A dentist who give me two things

I know a physician who has not only outstanding skiil, but also kindness. Last summer vacation, I went to the dentist's office to straighten my teeth. I had tried to do this when I was in elementary school, but I had given up because of pain. So I was very afraid of feeling that pain again. But this never happened. I couldn't feel any suffering after I wore braces. Although I'm uncomfortable when eat something, I've never felt lots of pain until now. Even in the process of putting small screw into gum, where other people usually feel pains, I didn't feel any pain. However, the main reason I regard him as a good dentist lies in his kindness. He always greet patients with a smile. He explains to patients what he is about to do today, how the straightening of irregular teeth is coming along, and what the patients must do and must not in detail. If I ask a question or tell discomfort from brace, he sympathize with me and tell me the solution. Whenever I go to the dentist's office, I feel I am treated sincerely and I'm in a good mood. He give me two things : a high-quality dental treatment, and a pleasure that is derived from his kindness.

My Little Niece

Every night, after school and work, I drag myself to home. Stepping up the stairs to my house, I find myself being totally worn-out. I just feel like throwing everything away and taking a long rest. I even feel sick and drowsy. However, when I open the front door and heard a high-pitched voice from inside, I suddenly forget the feeling of tiredness. "Aunt Myungjae! I missed you!" She is my little niece who is only 5 years old. She follows after me to my room and keeps saying something. "Aunt Myungjae, didn't you miss me? I've waited for you so long! And I… " It sounds as if she sings a song, and her words are like a cute melody. Although I had to suffer from all kinds of noises outside, I just let her go and enjoy her melody. She suddenly says, "I like you. You are so pretty." Then I say to myself, 'No way! I am so exhausted. I feel my hair gone greasy and skin being dull. I cannot look pretty.' I go to see a mirror, but sadly, there is a pitiful woman with glassy eyes and deep dark circles. Being disappointed, I ask her, "You think I am pretty?" Then she responds, "Yes. You are so pretty." What I should do? I cannot but make a big smile. After talking with her for a while, I sit down to my desk and put some books out of my bag to do a school assignment. It's a load of work, but I have to finish it until tomorrow. I feel a pressure again. At the moment, the little girl comes to me again and whispers, "I have three chocolates. You can take one." I look down her hand grabbing a sack of snack bars which is a little big for her tiny hand. I thank her, but I know those are her favorites. So I say to her warmly, "Thanks, sweetie. But I'm okay." Then she puts one of the bars on my knee and says, "Please take one. It tastes so good." So I do my work biting sweet chocolate. How can anyone do not love her? She is so innocent and adorable. Sometimes I think I am given much greater cheers and love from her than any other adults. I wonder how such a little creature can do the amazing things.

The worst waiter /Kim Ji Su

 The worst waiter I've experienced.

The worst waiter I've ever expereinced was at the buffet restaurant few years ago.

It was a graduation day. My little brother has graudated from middle school.

Our family decided go for a lunch buffet to celebrate the graduation.

The restaurant was notably famoust for its delicious cusine and extoic food.

After we sat down, a waiter came to serve us. We thought of the dining place as a  ordinary buffet

so we went to get food from the dish bars the instant we let out bags down.

However the waiter pulled us over, saying 'the dining place is only usuable when you pay first'.

We were astonishened with the dining system. Our family has never been to a buffet

where payment should be advanced. It was an honest mistake that a normal people

can have when they are new to these. However the waiter looked down to us

driving our family in to a shameless people who want to have freesbies.

I was very upset with the waiter's behavior. Also my all of my famil members were quite angry.

It was the worst dining place which I ever dined.

Look on the bright side!

I am an optimistic person. First, I always try to look on the good and better side of the problem. Though some things might not go in the way I intended, rather than getting angry or blaming it to some other person or thing, I try to find the second best alternative solution. In that way, I can be less stressed and also make less stress on other people. Second, I also try to be patient. I am the one who tries to be calm and not to be impatient. There are some people, who gets too pushy when they try to make their own goal. I used to be like that, but I changed my personality through many trials and errors. For example, when I was in high school, everyone in my class were anxious and got stressed about getting the good grades and entering the good university, as a student I was worried either but I tried to make my classmates feel better and calm in the way I did. Sometimes, I got too optimistic about things and get into trouble sometimes, but most of the time the optimistic personality leads me and people around me in a good way.

My dangerous summer vacation

"How brave are you!" This is what I always hear from people. Not only but they are talking about my braveness, I myself also accept the idea that I am such a courageous girl. For example, last year, I went on a vacation to Europe as a member of Topdeck, the international backpacking club, alone as a Korean. This program offered me a ride to each country in Europe and several meals but I had to find out all the ways to figure out everything else. Therefore, I had to make my own travel plan. The only thing I could rely on was several sheets of map and roadmaps. Traveling by myself through this program, I once had a really dangerous time in London. It was the first day I arrived there, through Schipole Airport. My flight was delayed so I landed there a lot later than expected, almost midnight. I was supposed to go to the reserved hostel near King's Cross station, which was 40minutes ride by underground. However, it was very late and then strange men tried to contact me recognizing that I am totally alone. I felt I was in a big trouble, but it seemed that there was nothing I could do to protect myself. At that moment, I found two Asian women in the same underground section with me and asked them a help by explaining my situation of danger with strange men. They responded me and asked for help to other passengers together with me, by yelling out. Then people blamed the guys surrounding me, telling them that they will call the police, and I could escape from the situation. Even though others helped me escape from the danger, I definitely think it was a lot thanks to my courageous attitude and attempt to solve the problem with calm. Going through such circumstance, I learned how to deal with a problem with the ongoing travel and it really made me even more brave and courageous than before.

One word that could explain myself

I am a thoughtful person. I always care about other people's feeling, and their situation. I have been like this since I was a little child. My personality became thoughtful due to a reason. When I was 6 years old, I got a disease which gave me a hard time during kindergarten. After I had gone through this hard time, I started talking not so much. Instead, I liked listening to other people's talk. This made me a caring person who listen to other people well, and understand their feelings. After I grew up, I still have this good habit. Since I was in elementary school, many of my friends used to come up to me and talk about their concerns, and rely on my advices. That is because I sincerely care about their situation. Also, I really hate causing harm to other people. Therefore, I never do anything that might hurt other's feeling or cause inconvenience. I always think for a while before I do something to care about others. This personality sometimes gives me loss, but I never complain about it. I know being thoughtful is worthy than being selfish. I am thankful that I am a thoughtful person.

Listening to others

If I live in the world that everybody says something about me, I would not be able to do anything but just listen to them. Some people might say listening others is nice, but for me, it is not. It's a problem! I really do listen to others' opinions, so I can't decide on something quickly. While I make a decision, I ask my friends their thoughts. Then, of course, I hesitate and time marches on. During that time of hesitating, I am the most capricious person in the world. Well, I do make a decision, but after giving reasons to every single opinions. It takes much longer than others and I get stressed by thinking that I am behind others. Although I know that it is a stressful thing to concern all the ideas of others, I keep doing that. I think it's because of the environment I grew up in, that every adults says "Listen to others". Well, when I think about myself, first I think of what others would think about me.

Democratic Citizen: participate in Society

I am a democratic citizen. And I'm trying to be a conscious citizen. First, I have a curious about our society and I want to know how our society structure and how people act. So I always read newspapers, magazines and a lot of books. Through these efforts, I can recognize our social issues, think reasonable, and make my opinion. I often express my opinion by writing on the internet or talking with my friend. Second, as a citizen, we should participate in our society problems. There are many social problems like economy, labor, welfare, etc. So, I can express our opinions through actions. If the governments does not act for the people and also does not solve social problem, I should be able to resist this situation. In 2012.3.30, I participate in Tuition Struggle to cut university tuition which is very high and make pressure to many families in South Korea. I and many people can express people's voice by protest government. Third, I have a social responsibility. I take a ballot like parliamentary election and president election. And I donate my blood for those who are in sick and need my blood. Attention of the society can change the world through these actions. I will think reasonable and express my opinion so I will be a conscious citizen.

Introducing myself, the first word that popped up in my head was the 'business'. This doesn't mean that I am a business person but that I am a busy person. I am doing quite many things now. First of all, I have been the representative of sophomore in English education department since last semester. As a representative, I should make plans for many different events and push them ahead. From the semester-beginning
party to the semester-ending party, all the schedules are set by me and other co-workers. To work on them, we have meetings on every Tuesday evening. Also, I am a member of Hanbalzzac, the Yuldong circle in education college. Yuldong is a kind of dancing according to protest songs. As a sophomore, I should teach the freshmen in the circle, and we held a 'Freshmen Yuldong Festival' two weeks ago. We do our activities on every Wednesday evening. Another example can be two societies that I'm participating in. One is the education society and the other is the teacher certification exam preparing society. In the previous one, we discuss the hot potatoes about educational problems nowadays and think about what we can and should do as future teachers. In the latter one, we study the subject which is focused on the test together. Those two societies are held each on Tuesday and Wednesday. Besides those activities as a university student, I teach two high school students privately to make pocket money on every Thursday and Sunday and go to church on every Saturday. Finally, I should date with my girlfriend who sits right next to me in my free time. That's how my weeks go. It might seem too tight a schedule but I am satisfied with what I'm doing and I love my 'business'.

A person likes a calm lake.

I am an easy going person. I have three examples that show why I'm an easygoing person. First, if I have homework due to tomorrow and I didn't do it at all, but I never rush. Of course I pretty shock, but soon I calm down and think about what I have to do and make in order. If I never finish that, I don't panic. I just forget them and promise myself, starting from tomorrow I'll do my best. Because of my personality, I always try to do my homework early. Second, I forget bad memories easily. I am a person just like the others. So I made some bad mistakes and I regret it bitterly. Or I experienced some bad things. These things remain in my mind as bad memories. Usually I never think of them. But sometimes it suddenly occurs to me, and I worry myself. But soon I think just like this, 'The past is the past. Let it be.' Like I said, I am a person just like the others. So sometimes it's not easy to just forget it. Then I try to think it positive. For example, it was a nightmare but I learned something and I'll never do the same thing. Third, my life's motto is Keep it simple stupid. When I'm in important situation to choose or decide something. For example, choose which university, major. I don't think too much. I just follow my mind and choose what I really want. Sometimes I regret for my decision. But I pretty satisfied with my decision, because at that time I chose the best thing that I most wanted. So right now I'm in this university, and this class. And I don't regret it.

A Worker Bee

"Worker Bee" might be the word that describes me the best. I've been taking part in various kinds of events since the start of my freshman year. Most of my school year, no, practically my whole school year was related to Student Council. For example, last year I was the representative of German Department, class of 11'. As the one, I was in charge of a lot of things. Last year we ran two one-day pubs, one in the spring and the other one in the fall, where we sold alcohol beverages and snacks. I was one of the people in charge. I ran all over the place doing my job, purchasing things we need for the pub, cooking and serving. There were also other small or big things I did so far. Last winter vacation I came to school almost every day attending meetings for planning 3-day long trip with new incoming freshmen, Saeteo. Since the college of occidental languages, which my department belongs, is taking the largest proportion of the whole school, we had so much to do to provide students safe, fun and satisfying trip. I became very good friends with other students from other departments in the college of occidental languages. This led me to the election office of my college we ran last month. Now I'm working for the student council of the college itself. Other than that I also work in the faculty office 6 hours a week. I run errands for the professors and do some document related tasks. So far, reading my paragraph you might think that I do all those things all the time and put my studies behind. If you are, you've got it wrong. I put my effort in learning too, so that I earned the opportunity of being sent to Germany for the next semester. I always try to be responsible for the things on my hand and do the best I can.

Who Am I?

Since my childhood, I have been an active and optimistic person. I get along with almost all kinds of different people. I do not fear standing in front of the crowd and I believe that must have been the important reason for me to have more chance to stand in front of the other people. For example, I was the class captain for the entire years of the elementary school and the middleschool. During my highschool years, I was the vice president of the Student Council. However, of course this does not mean that I have no enemy. There always existed some people who did not like me, even when I was in the elementary school! Back then, I was deeply hurt because I did not know why they hated me, but I soon found out that it is impossible to have no enemy at all. And here comes my optimism again; I do not pay attention to those people who are not on my side, and I am still wide open to anyone whowants to be my friend. Just tap my shoulder andI will smile back to you. Yes, this is me.

Kahee Lee/ About myself/ Mon 9a.m.

I may not look so, but I'm actually a very shy person. And because I am not only shy but also timid, I have had some problems in my life. First I couldn't strike up a conversation to people I do not know. I like meeting people and hanging around, but I just can't start the conversation. I keep thinking if I should talk to someone or not, and this makes me miss the timing to talk to new people. When I was little I couldn't even order what I wanted to have at a restaurant; I couldn't even call the waiter because I was too shy to speak aloud. The other problem I had was that I couldn't make a presentation in front of others. I always felt very nervous when I had to stand in front of people, and that gave me so much stress that it resulted in stomachaches and headaches. And when my turn to speak comes, I start to forget my lines, my voice starts to shake, and I talk nonsense very fast. But until I graduated high school this problems were not that serious. However when I entered University I found out that I had to participate in many team projects, presentations; studying in University included a lot of participation. So I tried hard to overcome the troubles of my personality. I joined the student council in the department of ELG in my freshman year and tried to meet as many people as possible, I applied for exchange programs and right now I am participating in an internship at HUFS. I also tried to get used to speaking in front of people by doing additional presentations in class. I made some efforts and it did help me with the downsides of my personality.  But we all know that characteristics do not change that easily. I still have hesitate at least three of more minutes before I can talk to someone, and I still get the quivers when I have to do a presentation. However I think being shy isn't a bad thing for me. If I were not shy at all I wouldn't have tried hard to change myself. I am still the same shy person, but I have considered and will keep considering this as a chance to develop myself.

Passion makes Perfect

Do you want to be perfect? Yes, I want to be perfect. These days there is a clear tendency that wants to grade people's value in exact numbers for instance, lots of tests on English, many certificates and so on. This tendency is usually highly acknowledged because competitions which create ranking in any fields for example in sports, in language or even in an academic field are very common in the world. However, being number one in ranking or getting a high score at English test such as TOEIC or getting A+ on assignment can't mean everything. For instance, in last semester I took one of lectures in my Malay-Indonesian department. The professor gave each topic in our textbook to group of students. And each group had to make a presentation about a topic for about thirty minutes and had to answer all the questions from audience. Our group was given a topic that the author's opinion was women' status in Indonesia usually low and importantly women' political choice is dependent on her husband. However our group thought differently. Since this article is written in 2001 and considering that the Suharto's 30 year long military dictatorship just ended in 1998 because of civil demonstration we believed that there must be a change in women's status in 2011. To prove this, I and my group spent whole semester! We met every one day in a week and had discussions and gave critics to others. We even made questionnaires and sent it to our Indonesian friends in order to do survey in Indonesia. With it, we raised objection against our text book and interestingly our professor accepted our objection. It was the moment that adrenalin ran through all my blood vessels. 20 year old youngsters raised objection to one of scholars. This is me. Getting a high grade is not that important to me. I just want to do something in my full strength with passion until things getting perfect.

Kim you jin / A paragraph about myself

A tree where you can get rest.

I am a tree-like person. In fact, when people see me for the first time, they usually say that It is too difficult to talk with me and approach me. It is because I am a shy person, so I cannot talk very well with new people. for example, it takes about a month to talk with my collegues for the first time since we met. I cannot approach some of them well, and they also did. However, when we get closed, the situation is upside down. Because I know well how sad it is when other persons don't listen one's trouble, I always do my best to listen them well. When they tell me the thing which annoy them, I try to remember it and help them. Thanks to this effort, I can get many people's heart. They say that they can believe me. A person said to me that I am a one of the three persons that she can believe in her life. The others said that they want to have a good relationship with me forever. I always wanted to be a good listener like MOMO. Do you know MOMO? It is a character of a famous novel. she always listens others' trouble without telling anything. she is like tree. Tree gives people a shadow for rest. Tree doesn't loud and doesn't bright. However it can give people rest without saying anything, just by listening. I can give people shadow for rest like tree which is always around them.

Well-organized girl

I am an organized person. I don't know if my friends or my family would know it, but I think that I am. For example, I always write down my schedules in my diary or my smart phone's calendar and check them every day. When you'll see my diary or my mobile phone, you'll notice that they are full of plans and things to do. I write there what I have to do for classes or assignments and dates with friends. Also, I have to make plans and put what I have to do in order before doing something, big or small things, no matters. I must know what I am doing that day. And almost always, I am the one who tells my friends where to go or what to do the day we meet as they are the ones who decide on impulse. Other people could think that maybe I am stubborn and everyday organized. However, there are some times that I do things without plans and act as I like. But I like my personality, I like that I make things organized because I don't have to waste time. And I think it's a good habit to put things in order.

WanSoo Cho/About myself/Mon 9~11

Let me introduce a story that can show my character well. It goes back to my junior high school days.

As you can see, I'm not that good at exercise. But I always enjoyed my P.E classes except for examinations. As usual, I spend a happy time playing vollyball with my friends. One day, we had a tossing test and I've got a C even though I really did my best. However I couldn't just let it be that way cause I had a precise goal to enter the Foreign Language High School. Chances are failing on the P.E test can interrupt my dream. So I wanted to have a make-up test. Unfortunately, there wasn't any make-up test officially but I coudln't give up. I was worried about it and finally decided to give a call to teacher who was really notorious for his stinginess. I don't know where such bravery came from, but I did it and had a make-up test alone and got a A on my test again. what did you feel after reading my story? Maybe some of you may not understand why I so clung to  such a thing. And I also agree that my behavior could be seen somewhat strange to other. But as for me, It was my last effort to make my dream come true. Although I couldn't achieve my goal to enter the Foreign Language High School, but there is no regret cause I did my best. Like this I have a strong tanacity to accomplish my purpose. But I also try to be careful expressing my will in a excessive way can hurt somebodies' feeling. Altough tanacity can not explain all about me, it is a keyword to show Wansoo Who he is.

Kim Ji Su/ About my self

To introduce my self, I am a "stubborn" person.

When you hear the word stubborn, most of you will portray a person who doesn't listen to others and only

insist on his or her own thoughts.

First of all, I am nothing like those kinds of people.

The word  "stubborn" in this writing refers to a term of maintaining a strong will.

I am a stubborn person who don't easily bend down  on my opinions.

To make the meaning crystal clear, you consider of me as a person who is not afraid to say "No", when everybody say "yes". In Korea, there is a strong tradition which

have passed down from generation to generation. Koreans tend to care too much on "modesty" and "humbleness" that

they are now afraid to show any kinds of thoughts or opinions which go aginst the ruling party.

I personally experienced a lot of cases where ideas were lieterally ignored just because they weren't the ideas from the majority part.

From the very early age, I couldn't understand the implicit agreement that people held in the middle of the decision making.

For instance, I happened to participate in a competition in my high school years. The purpose of the contest was to see which group

is able to produce most profit in a model investment. I the yougest student among my group members.

Students proposed various plans to maximize output, and as one of the participant I also actively participated in suggesting ideas.

However, the head member of the group refused to take my idea in to consideratio because I was young. Most of the members

agrred with the leader of the group and it seemed that they also believed I would accept the agreement because I was the minor.

However I rebeled at the decision, and demanded that my idea is also worth considered since I am the same participant as most of the students.

Eventually, after consideration, my idea turned out to be the best policy that the company would proceed.

I think it is really important to stand on my will , and I will keep this "stubborness" till the rest of my life.

Adventurous person like Tom Sawyer.

Have you ever read "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"? As you can see in the title, this novel is about adventures of children. And like the boys in this book, I'm also adventurous people. Truth be told, I was afraid of changes when I was young. But as I grew, I recognized that there are lots of interesting in the world, that I can improve myself thorough challenging diverse things. Although I feel nervous when trying new things, I enjoy challenging! For example, I usually take a different route from before. In the novel which I said earlier, Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn get around village to find treasure. And finally they find it in the cave. Like these boys, when I go to particular place, I take a route which is different from what I took before, and start get around. There are many times when I get lost and wandered around, but when I find my way, I feel as if I found treasure. Also, I try to experience diverse fields. I heard lectures from diverse fields like marketing, language, self-improvement, and IT. Add to this, I tried to read books or watching videos about various topics like novel, self-improvement, society, history, science, economics, etc. Finally, there are still so many things I want to challenge. I promised to go paragliding after watching people who are doing it on the TV. I try to challenge to give a presentation to people like Steve Jobs. I'll be fluent not only in English but also in Spanish. I have challenged until now, but I want to continue challenge more interesting things from now on.

A Hardworking Girl

I am a hardworking girl. Not just finishing the homework in time, but I do my best in the work. First, I usually don't go to bed until I finish my today's homework. For example, if I decide to do the work until midnight, I always make it done no matter what happens. But that is something very difficult to practice because I can easily get into the temptation. While I do my homework, I always think about getting some sleep instead of finishing my job. So, to conquer that temptation, I usually drink stimulants like 'Red Bull', or coffee. I do try anything to make my work done before the deadline. Thus, I have never gotten any penalty because of lateness. Also, I always do my best in work. I don't stop working until I satisfy with it totally. To do my best, I usually make a lot of questions to the professor. It is a kind of tough thing to do, but I don't hesitate to ask what I can't understand about the work. And I often go to the library to do research about my work. I don't return to the home until I make my work perfect. To some people, it can be very annoying to have that kind of personality. But it always gives me the best result of my homework. So, I like my hardworking character. I always try to do my work perfectly, and I think that's one of my good advantages. Therefore, I think that I'm a hardworking girl.

I am an artistic person. In other words, I have a sense of beauty. For example, my friends ask for my advice whenever they cannot decide what tobuy in clothing stores. They say that I usually make good choices that are notbounded by a passing fad. This means I have my own distinctive taste. Usingthis sense of beauty, I like creating something meaningful and valuable relatedto art. For example, Last summer, I lead a play workshop program in Russiandepartment, and participated in the performance of a Russian play Wedding Ceremony as a main director. Includingme, all the actors and staffs were college students who didn't have anyexperience in theater field, but we did our best to make it perfect and alsocreative. I instructed the actors, designed the stage, selected the backgroundmusic, edited some part of drama, and even did make-up for the actors. To be anartistically creative person, I often go to galleries, museums, theaters and tryto read a lot, especially literature. And when I get impressed by them, I writereviews and critique. Now, I'm just insisting that I am more or less artistically talented, but, in the near future, I will make the world call me an artist.
