TV : Can you live without it?

"Did you see yesterday's TV show?", "I missed Haepumdal last week!"

This is an ordinary conversation that can easily be found among friends. Some people say that television is an old medium today. I believe, eventhough TV is considered an old medium, it still plays an important role in my life style. I find it sad to hear some people forget how much influential TV is to their life, also fail to notice that a lot of contents internet provide them are from TV. Internet or other new media show more individual characteristics and it's hard to watch together with others in the spare time.

I love to watch TV in weekend with my family members. TV provides us topics to make a conversation with- from entertainment issues to social issues that are hot potatoes in today's world-. It's not desirable to make conversations only based on TV programmes however I think TV provides the laughter that all the family members can enjoy along. This is the same among friends as well. We talk about TV programmes and sometimes debate on some issues from TV shows. This is quite productive.

For me, TV is the most trustworthy medium to acquire certain figure's opinions or other social issues. Internet can provide me with some important issues, however, because people are more free to express themselves through internet, informations are sometimes wrong. I say it's my ability to find out which is wrong and which is not. Anyways I find it more comfortable to learn about social problems via TV programmes.

As a student majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication, I find it interesting to learn about TV and the history of how it had developed. I know how sometimes TV can be harmful when misused. However, I find TV programmes fun, interesting and sometimes productive. It's like the oasis in my dry life. They give me laughter and also issues to think about in depth. Therefore I say, I cannot live without TV!

  1. Hello I'm Yun You Jung and I read your writing with interest.

First sentence of your writing:"Did you see yesterday's TV show?", "I missed Haepumdal last week!" really catches my eyes. Not only it make people be interested in text, but also say influence in everyday life. And I think you catch feature of TV well which can't be searched in other medias like "Internet or other new media show more individual characteristics and it's hard to watch together with others in the spare time." "TV is the most trustworthy medium to acquire certain figure's opinions or other social issues." Writing these characteristics by comparing TV to other media make your text have persuasive power, I think.

But in the sentence "It's not desirable to make conversations only based on TV programmes however I think TV provides the laughter that all the family members can enjoy along. ",
I guess "however" means "but", not "아무리~해도",and it will be necessary to add '.' next to the word "programmes". Because it can be translated wrong and make some confusion.

This is all of my comment about your text. Thank you for your writing, and see you next class:-)
